Despite the actual logo itself, and the coin below (what a mess), the London 2012 Olympics is actually throwing up some pretty good graphic design.
Take Stamen for example. The San Francisco based studio has come up with a map for the LOCOG (London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games) project. It organises thousands of geocoded photos and articles from the 2012 team to show the works going on in the Olympic Park as well as showcasing the plethora of information available on the main site.
It is well within the retro/futuristic guidelines we seem intent on branding the Olympics with, but this time it works. It works well, very pleasing aesthetically, and functional too, with multiple geographic features and venues able to be searched and explored within it.
