Amazon Packaging

In an age where we are trying to reduce packaging and generally look after the environment there is something ironic about a company named after a large rainforest which is seemingly doing the opposite.  Amazon.

As loyal readers will know I’m training for next year’s London Marathon, and recently I invested in a new Timex Marathon watch.  A quick scout about for the best price and Amazon came up trumps.  A couple of days later a huge box arrived for me.

The images speak for themselves.  Excessive isn’t it?  Obviously I want my watch to arrive in pristine condition and be well protected from the likes of Royal Mail but even for me as the consumer this seemed a bit much.  Especially when you consider that the watch itself was hidden within a foam padded box, mounted in a plastic base and wrapped in a laminated cardboard housing.

This is the first time I’ve noticed Amazon be excessive with their packaging, anybody else experienced similar?
