The Lazy Designer’s Guide to Success

“The Lazy Designer’s Guide to Success”, what every young designer wants to hear.  You may well be dubious, having been told to work hard and put the effort in to go the extra mile for your client, but when that person speaking is Michael Bierut, the founder of Design Observer and partner at Pentagram’s New York office, you ought to sit up and take note.

I won’t replicate the whole guide, you can read that here, but essentially do the following:

1.  Keep it simple.
2.  Don’t reinvent the wheel [Part 1].
3.  Don’t reinvent the wheel [Part 2]: Rotate the tires instead.
4.  Do as you’re told.
5.  Steal.
6.  Once you come up with something, never let it go.
7.  Make other people do the work.

So there, go and be successful!
