Aurora Borealis in HD

Norwegian photographer Terje Sorgjerd has painstakingly captured 22,000 high definition photographs in the midst of the recent geomagnetic storm and strung them all together to create this achingly beautiful time lapse video of the Aurora Borealis as you’ve never seen it before.

Absolutely incredible, a real visual treat (watch it full screen if you can).

Braving -25 degrees Celsius in and around Kirkenes and Pas National Park (it borders Russia at 70deg North, 30deg East if you want to look it up) to capture the fascinating collection of images, Terje has given all of us the opportunity to see the ethereal shapes and colours of the Northern Lights that can normally be so difficult to see at all.

Thank you to the ever so aptly named Cool Hunter for pointing this out.
